A*STAR SCIENCE AWARD (POLY)

Calling all science and maths whizzes – nurture your research interests with the A*STAR Science Award (Polytechnic)!

Part of A*STAR’s ongoing efforts to nurture young and promising scientific talent, the A*STAR Science Award (Polytechnic) is given to Singaporean Year 2 and 3 polytechnic students who demonstrate particularly strong aptitude and interest in mathematics and science to spur their passion in scientific research and development.

TERMS OF AWARD

The Award provides an allowance of S$2,000 and a subsidy of tuition fees capped at S$2,500 per year for up to two years. It is tenable for 2 years (from Year 2); however, continuation of award in Year 3 is subject to excellent academic performance in the Year 2 promotional examinations and continued interest in science and mathematics.

The Award carries no bond.

Awardees are required to be attached to an A*STAR research institute for their Final Year Project or internship programme.

SPECIAL BENEFITS

Awardees have the opportunity to take up a research internship or conduct their Final Year Project at an A*STAR research institute where they gain first-hand experience working on a research project, and interact with A*STAR researchers.

Awardees will also be invited to A*STAR seminars, outreach events and programmes, as well as talks by A*STAR scientists. Awardees will receive periodic updates on the latest research work at A*STAR and happenings in science and research.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The Award is open to Singaporean Polytechnic Year 2 and 3 students who have outstanding academic performance in science and mathematics subjects and a passion for science and research.

AWARD AND APPLICATION

Awards are offered through polytechnics to Year 2 and 3 students annually.

Applications are invited through nominations by polytechnics only.
