    Channel 8 Special Feature

A*STAR's Bioinformatics Institute (BII) continues to play a significant role in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic through its development of analytics software that perform curation and quality checks on the genome sequences submitted to the GISAID platform.

In this special data feature by Channel 8, Raphael Lee Tze Chuen, Research Manager at BII, discusses and highlights the importance of genome sequencing.

"We can use genome sequencing to design vaccines, diagnostic kits and drugs. We can also use the information to help us in contact tracing and detecting variants of concern. Public health officials can use this information to help them in their control measures and safety measures."
