Dr. Maurer-Stroh Sebastian was recently interviewed by CNA 938 regarding the two COVID-19 research collaboration proposals, initiated by Singapore in 2020 and officially endorsed at the 11th Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (IAMMSTI-11), and the 79th ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI-79) earlier this month.
He spoke on the Singapore-Malaysia Collaboration in stepping up ASEAN's Epidemic Preparedness for Genomic Surveillance. With modern science and technology, this project will allow us to learn how to tackle and detect the virus and understand how it spreads across borders in the region through genomic surveillance. He also explained that the constant updating of the viral genomic database helps with the tracking of the different variants globally.
