COVID-19 Research Workgroup at NCID wins national award for contributions to pandemic response
Congratulations to the COVID-19 Research Workgroup, comprising of experts from A*STAR, NCID and Duke-NUS Medical School on winning the National Clinical Excellence Team Award 2021.

This annual national award recognizes the efforts of outstanding clinicians, clinician scientists and other healthcare professionals for their contributions in advancing healthcare, driving research and education, which ultimately improve people's lives.

Professor Lisa Ng, Executive Director of A*STAR Biomedical Research Council and A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs, is an integral member of the workgroup and with her team, they work closely with local and international partners on infectious disease specific research.

Inserm Visit
Visit to A*STAR by INSERM Delegation
A*STAR ID Labs had the chance to be part of an engagement with the INSERM delegation led by Dr Gilles Bloch, CEO and Chairman of INSERM. The visit to A*STAR, hosted by A*STAR DCE Prof Andy Hor and A*STAR ACE (BMRC) Prof Ng Huck Hui was part of a three-day visit to Singapore aimed to strengthen collaboration within the framework of the France-Singapore Joint Science and Innovation Committee. 

The event was graced by the French ambassador, H.E. Marc Abensour and attended by representatives from A*STAR ID Labs; Prof Lisa Ng, Dr Amit Singhal, A/Prof Pablo Bifani, Dr Fong Siew Wai and Bioinformatics Institute (BII); Dr Sebastian Maurer-Stroh and BMRC. 

The dialogues led by Prof Ng Huck Hui and Prof Lisa Ng initiated scientific and programme exchanges positively between A*STAR and INSERM, exploring opportunities for potential collaborations. 

A*Star's new outfit to coordinate research efforts on Covid-19 and other diseases
A new initiative set up by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) to coordinate disease-specific research efforts by the various groups under the agency.
Called the Infectious Diseases Labs - ID Labs, its aim is to nip any emerging pathogen in the bud before it can cause an outbreak.
