NParks Cities of Tomorrow R&D Programme

๐ŸŒณ We are excited to share that the NParks Cities of Tomorrow R&D Programme was featured in The Straits Times! This research focuses on improving soil conditions to support the growth of Singapore's iconic giant trees, the dipterocarps, which are essential for forest restoration and urban greenery.

As part of this programme, SIFBI is engaged in characterising microbial strains, which includes:
๐Ÿฆ  Isolating microbes from tree roots to understand their role in tree health
๐Ÿงช Using genetic analysis to identify these microbes
๐Ÿ”ฌ Studying how these microbes help trees absorb nutrients and grow stronger

This research programme will enhance the resilience of our forests and urban landscapes!
