Visit by A*STAR Chairman, Prof. Tan Chorh Chuan

We also visited the Food Tech Innovation Centre (FTIC) where XiuLing 秀玲 GUO 郭, CEO of Nurasa, introduced their approach in supporting food start-ups. We presented our advancements in ingredient innovation, fast prototyping, and our two collaborative joint labs. The fermentation joint lab with ScaleUp Bio and the food processing lab with Nurasa played a crucial role in supporting both start-ups and food industry players smoothly towards scaling up and commercialisation.
Prof. Tan also had the opportunity to sample Prefer | bean-free coffee, a spin-off from A*STAR, that is now available in 14 stores across Singapore. This not only showcased novel beverage options but also served as a concrete example of successfully bringing research to the market - a testament to the dynamic ecosystem that A*STAR and SIFBI are dedicated to fostering.
The discussions were fruitful, and we are optimistic about generating more impactful research outcomes and facilitating further translation in the near future.
