A*STAR I²R Events

ITAP 2022

At ITAP 2022, A*STAR highlighted two technologies designed to advance Singapore’s agriculture and energy sectors. The first, the High Performance Precision Agriculture (HiPPA) project, developed in collaboration with Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) and NUS, aims to enhance indoor vertical farming. HiPPA integrates robotics, non-invasive sensors, and AI to optimise crop production, addressing the shortage of skilled agricultural workers and supporting Singapore's 30-by-30 food production target.

The second technology, the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) with aggregation of distributed energy resources (DERs), focuses on improving power distribution efficiency. In partnership with ERI@N, Sembcorp Industries, and Nokia, A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R) developed a wireless communication network that enhances the reliability and resilience of VPPs. This future-ready solution supports remote monitoring, predictive analytics, and optimisation, paving the way for smarter energy grid applications.
