L’Oréal Singapore For Women in Science National Fellowship 2019 (Physical and Engineering Sciences)

I hoped that this will encourage more young female scientists to dedicate to science, technology, engineering and math.
Dr Nancy Chen
Dr Nancy Chen has been awarded the 2019 L’Oreal Singapore For Women in Science National Fellowship Award (Physical and Engineering Sciences)
Surrounded by Spanish speaking friends while growing up in the United States, Dr.Chen have always been intrigued by the intricacies and nuances of human language. Learning that mathematical models can be used as a universal framework to characterize and process any spoken language has been fascinating and inspired her to go into the field of conversational artificial intelligence (AI).
She is honored that her contributions are recognized by the judges of this year’s L’Oreal Singapore For Women in Science National Fellowship Award. A talented scientist from I2R’s Aural and Language Intelligence Department, Nancy leads her team to computationally model human language for designing smarter AI systems.
