KPMG and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) joint lab launches cyber threat hunting tool to address cyber security needs

KPMG in Singapore and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research’s (A*STAR) I2R today unveiled their first jointly developed cyber threat hunting tool. The KPMG Cyber Threat Hunting Solution is ready for deployment for interested organisations.

The joint lab was launched in July 2018, and this cyber threat hunting tool represents the first key milestone of the three-year Master Research Collaboration Agreement. KPMG in Singapore is the first professional services firm to have a joint lab with A*STAR’s I2R.

The joint lab between KPMG and A*STAR’s I2R was started with a keen focus on establishing a data-science powered laboratory in the professional services sector. Through this lab, both parties aim to translate research into solutions that will address real-world challenges.

This cyber threat hunting tool is able to identify malicious and suspicious activities that would otherwise remain undetected. It extracts and processes digital footprint to help cyber professionals detect abnormal behaviour and suspicious activities in an organisation’s network. The cyber threat hunting solution will enrich existing cyber security offerings from KPMG.

Said Mr Ong Pang Thye, Managing Partner, KPMG in Singapore: “The results of our research thus far have been positive. Organisations recognise the value of this powerful cyber threat hunting solution, and are keen to deploy it.

“This momentum will be carried on, and we will see the continuous development of this cyber threat hunting tool, and other digital and cyber offerings in the near future. With these increased capabilities, it will help KPMG bring more valuable solutions to organisations.”

Prof. Dim-Lee Kwong, Executive Director of A*STAR’s I2R, said: “In every collaboration that I2R has, we focus on how we can utilise our vast capabilities to address real-world challenges. The results from Phase 1 of this joint lab are testament to the excellence and strength of the partnership between KPMG and I2R.”
