The Future IMRE Technologies Webinar
15 March 2021, 10-11 am

Dr Liu Hong Fei, IMRE, A*STAR
Surface Engineering and Protective Coating (SEPC)
Abstract:
Additive manufacturing of metallic alloys has seen the fast growth in the last decade, which brought up new challenges to surface engineering and protective coating (SEPC), especially when targeting the applications in aerospace and medical implants. This webinar shares with the audiences our recent studies and future plans in SEPC.
Biography:
Dr Liu Hong Fei is a senior scientist at IMRE/A*STAR. He received his B.E in Semiconductor Physics and Devices from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1996 and PhD in Condensed-Matter Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. His research is focused on deposition, treatment, and characterization of solid-state materials.

Dr Wang Pei, IMRE, A*STAR
Metal Additive Manufacturing
Abstract:
Metals and alloys for additive manufacturing (AM) are attracting strong interests from the research community because of the huge demanding in new materials from the AM industries. We have developed several technologies using metal AM for rapid alloy screening to speed up the alloy development process. In this presentation, I’ll present our works in metal AM as well as the sustainable metal economy using AM metal powders.
Biography:
Dr Pei Wang is a Scientist from Structural Materials at IMRE, A*STAR. He received his B.Sc in Applied Chemistry and his PhD from NUS in 2008 and 2013 respectively. His current research focus on metallic materials design for metal AM, AM materials characterization and testing, functional materials fabrication by AM, metal powder and metal sustainable economy.
