Composite and Sustainability

Revolutionizing Sustainable Carbon Fiber Composites
Amidst the growing concern surrounding the significant volume of carbon fiber composite (CFRP) waste, which arises from recycling challenges and limited service life, the looming threat of environmental pollution and resource depletion demands immediate action. In response, IMRE has pioneered a cutting-edge solution to this pressing issue. Through innovative technology, we reclaim carbon fiber from end-of-life CFRP composites and convert it into valuable forms using a green closed-loop chemical process. This method ensures the recovery of clean, high-quality carbon fiber with over 90% of the strength of virgin carbon fiber, all at mild reaction conditions (i.e., below 100 °C, within 4 hours). Moreover, the repurposed carbon fiber finds new life in various applications, thus extending its usefulness and sustainability.

By recycling end-of-life CFRP scrap and reintroducing recycled carbon fibers into the market, we not only safeguard the environment and mitigate resource wastage but also unlock significant economic benefits while alleviating the global demand for carbon fiber.
