Model Factory Launch

On the 23rd August 2018, ARTC launched A*STAR's Model Factory, hosting up to 368 guests with over 102 companies gracing the occasion. Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Koh Poh Koon attended the event as the guest of honor. The event also signified new partnerships with Nestlé, Shell, Procter and Gamble, and Singtel, marking its expansion beyond the aerospace and machinery sectors to serve the energy and fast moving consumer goods sector as well. The event continued with an open house where up to 121 guests came to view the Model Factory Demonstrations.

With over 30 testbeds as well as many other advanced manufacturing demonstrations in ARTC, guests experienced and learned how the Virtual Manufacturing Lab and the Manufacturing Intelligence Control Room can be applied into a manufacturing context. During his speech, SMS Koh said that new technologies will play a major role in shaping manufacturing trends. He added that disruptive technologies such as additive manufacturing, robotics and artificial intelligence are ushering a new era of manufacturing, also known as Industry 4.0.
