On the 9th of September the inaugural INternational Conference on Advanced Surface Enhancement (INCASE2019) kicked off with a night of networking and dinner, to pave the way for the main event from 10th to 13th of September.
The main event took place at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Alumni Club and was opened by H.E Kara Owens, British High Commissioner to Singapore. More than 120 visitors from around the world came to participate. The conference was jointly organised by ARTC, Metal Finishing News (MFN) and Coventry University.
Five broad discussion themes were covered, encompassing the latest developments in specific areas of surface enhancement, including advances in measurement techniques, surface finishing, and conventional as well as novel processing methods for fatigue enhancement. As manufacturing rapidly moves towards higher automation and Industry 4.0, another key focus of INCASE 2019 was to evaluate whether the surface enhancement community is adequately prepared for this transformation. The conference ended with a series of workshops in ARTC including a tour of the facility.
