Applied Materials officially opened its new S$600 million advanced manufacturing facility in Tampines, marking one of the company’s largest investments in Singapore and reinforcing the nation’s position as a global semiconductor hub. The facility was launched amid growing global demand for AI-driven semiconductor technologies.
The new campus more than doubles Applied Materials’ advanced cleanroom manufacturing space in Singapore and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs across manufacturing, engineering, and corporate functions. Designed as a highly connected and intelligent facility, it will support the production of semiconductor equipment critical to enabling next-generation AI, computing, and digital technologies.
Applied Materials, a Tier 1 member of A*STAR ARTC industry consortium, enables semiconductor companies to strengthen capabilities through industry collaboration and technology translation, with co-innovation in areas such as advanced manufacturing process technologies, robotics & automation, and data-driven manufacturing. The delegation also observed a humanoid demonstration by A*STAR SIMTech and A*STAR ARTC’s Smart Robotics & Automation (SRA) Division during the opening, highlighting embodied AI applications for manufacturing.
The development underscores Singapore’s strong position in advanced manufacturing and reflects the continued efforts to strengthen capabilities that support the global semiconductor value chain through innovation, digitalisation, and talent development.
