Mr Beh Kian Teik, CEO of A*STAR at the MoU Signing between A*STAR ARTC and Becamex IDC.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between A*STAR ARTC and Becamex IDC was signed on 29 May 2026, in the presence of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong[ZL2.1] and Vietnam President Tô Lâm, marking a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration to advance manufacturing innovation within the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) ecosystem.

The MoU builds on an earlier collaboration framework established under the tripartite agreement signed in 2025 and further progresses efforts to establish the Vietnam Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (VAMRC). The VAMRC represents a more focused phase of collaboration aimed at accelerating the translation of advanced manufacturing technologies into practical industry applications. It will support Industry 4.0 adoption and sustainability initiatives across VSIP, while anchoring Singapore-led research and innovation in the region.

Under this MoU, A*STAR ARTC and Becamex IDC will collaborate across four key areas: technology deployment to apply advanced manufacturing and sustainability solutions in real industrial environments; capability building to strengthen workforce skills and support Industry 4.0 adoption through structured training programmes; pilot and testbed projects to develop model factories within VSIP for solution validation; and innovation ecosystem development to engage industry partners, research institutions and technology providers in strengthening the regional manufacturing ecosystem.

A*STAR ARTC will contribute R&D expertise in advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 solutions, supporting the development and deployment of industry-relevant technologies and capabilities. Becamex IDC will facilitate the establishment and operationalisation of the VAMRC, providing a platform for collaboration, experimentation and technology adoption.

Together, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening industrial capabilities, accelerating manufacturing transformation, and building a more connected and resilient innovation ecosystem across the region.
