His Excellency Tô Lâm, President of Vietnam (4th from left), during a visit to A*STAR’s SIMTech and A*STAR ARTC, alongside members of the Singapore and Vietnam delegations.
The President of Vietnam, H.E. Tô Lâm, and his delegation visited the A*STAR SIMTech and A*STAR ARTC as part of his State Visit to Singapore. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to gain deeper insights into Singapore’s strengths in advanced manufacturing and innovation, particularly in Industry 5.0 solutions, including AI-enabled manufacturing and sustainable production systems.
The visit was hosted by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information of Singapore, H.E. Rajpal Singh, Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam along with A*STAR’s leadership, including Prof Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive, SERC (Science & Engineering Research Council), and Dr David Low, Executive Director, A*STAR SIMTech and CEO of A*STAR ARTC.
During the visit, the delegation was introduced to A*STAR’s advanced manufacturing capabilities through a series of facility showcases across A*STAR SIMTech and A*STAR ARTC. These included the Humanoid Arena for High-Value Manufacturing (HuMan), which demonstrates embodied AI and humanoid robotics applications for future factories, and the A*STAR SIMTech Model Factory, which showcases Cyber-Physical Production System (CPPS) technologies for more intelligent, connected, and responsive manufacturing systems. The delegation also toured the workshop, including the DMG Mori machining line and the SIA–SIAEC–A*STAR Joint Lab 2.0[ZL3.1] showcase, highlighting strong industry-research collaboration and test-bedding capabilities.
As part of the State Visit, A*STAR ARTC and Becamex IDC Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29th May 2026 to collaborate on the establishment of the Vietnam Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (VAMRC). The initiative aims to strengthen advanced manufacturing capabilities and support the translation of research into industry-relevant applications in Vietnam.
The visit highlighted the growing collaboration between Singapore and Vietnam in advanced manufacturing, reinforcing efforts to deepen innovation partnerships and accelerate the translation of research into real-world industrial impact.
