Adopting Health & Innovation Training Recommendations


A*STAR recognizes the pivotal role of talent development in driving innovation and excellence in Health and MedTech.

A*STAR has adopted the recommendations from the Health & MedTech Innovation Training White Paper by Singapore Biodesign and Duke-NUS into its Career Development Advancement Framework for our Health & MedTech researchers. This holistic approach encompasses our eight distinct functional innovation skills and competencies.

By incorporating continual learning and upskilling, we ensure that our staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to support innovation.

A*STAR Gap Champion Development Scheme

Gap Champion Scheme

The Gap Champion Development Scheme is a capability building initiative that that empowers A*STAR tech-biz staff and senior researchers in Health & MedTech innovation and upskills them towards awareness and competencies in crafting proposals to fulfil the Gap funding criteria. Since 2023, the scheme has been expanded to include Agrifood and Pharmbio across the Health and Human Potential Domain.

Candidates go through a 6-month on-the-job training to pick up competencies in product development, project management, regulatory pathway, clinical trial planning, IP strategy, business planning and market access (where applicable).
