SIEW 2020 Roundtable

On 30 Oct 2020, Dr. JING Tao was invited to talk about “Metrology Infrastructure for ASEAN Cross-Border Power Integration and System Resilience” at a Thinktank Roundtable of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2020, which was hosted by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

Dr. Jing emphasized the importance of power-grid interconnections, and highlighted the technical challenges to achieve the resilience of cross-border power grids. He proposed metrology strategies and measurement developments to overcome these technical challenges, since National Metrology Centre, A*STAR, has dedicated itself in establishing and maintaining measurement standards at the highest level of accuracy in Singapore in terms of power and energy calibrations as well as implementing data metrology for traceability in digitalization. An integration of these two capabilities would enable a holistic power grid interconnections in the region, where recently the Singapore-Malaysia bilateral energy cooperation was announced at SIEW.
