An insightful seminar by Professor David Ma, Director of the Guelph Family Health Study, on the pivotal role of omega-3 fatty acids in preventive health. He emphasized the significance of early dietary interventions in cancer prevention, specifically how marine-based omega-3s shown greater efficacy in reducing breast cancer risk compared to plant-based sources.

Prof. Ma also shared insights from his research, which focuses on translating experimental models into cohort studies. His work promotes the adoption of healthy behaviors early in life as a means to mitigate the risk of chronic diseases.

This seminar highlighted the crucial impact of diet on long-term health outcomes, reinforcing the importance of prevention over treatment. This is strongly aligned with SIFBI’s strategic pillar, advocating for a holistic approach to maximizing health and well-being through food and diet. 🍽️
