SIgN- and NUS-derived Dengue Antibody Advances Through Exclusive License Agreement Between Chugai and GSK

Singapore, 20 August 2026

A dengue antibody originating from research by A*STAR’s Singapore Immunology Network (A*STAR SIgN) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) has reached a significant new milestone in its development.

On 18 August 2026, Chugai Pharmaceutical announced that it had entered into an exclusive license agreement with GSK for AID351, an investigational anti-dengue virus antibody. Under the agreement, GSK has obtained exclusive worldwide rights from Chugai to develop, manufacture and, if successful, commercialise AID351. GSK will be responsible for its clinical development, including Phase I clinical trials, and manufacturing.

The programme builds on a human antibody discovered by researchers from A*STAR SIgN and NUS that demonstrated high neutralising activity against all four dengue virus serotypes. The antibody subsequently served as the lead for a joint development initiative involving A*STAR SIgN and Chugai Pharmaceutical Research in Singapore. Chugai Pharmaceutical Research applied Chugai’s proprietary antibody-engineering technologies to optimise the antibody and develop AID351.

The project also received two rounds of funding from the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund, supporting the collaborative effort to advance a potential treatment for dengue fever.

The latest agreement represents an important step in the translation of immunology research into a potential therapeutic for a major global health challenge. It also highlights the value of sustained collaboration between public research institutions and industry in bringing scientific discoveries closer to patients.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease affecting tropical and subtropical regions. The World Health Organization estimates that 100 million to 400 million dengue infections occur globally each year.
