Advanced Manufacturing COI @ SIMTech Seminar: Driving Innovation & Sustainability for the Electronics and Semiconductor Industry
On 3rd July 2025, the Advanced Manufacturing COI @ SIMTech Seminar: Driving Innovation & Sustainability for the Electronics and Semiconductor Industry was held at JTC CleanTech 2A, organised by A*STAR SIMTech and supported by SEMI. The event, themed “Driving Innovation & Sustainability for the Electronics and Semiconductor Industry”, brought together approximately 130 guests comprising industry leaders, researchers, and professionals, to engage in discussions on how advanced manufacturing and sustainability are shaping the future of the electronics and semiconductor sectors.
Distinguished guest speakers shared valuable insights on:
- Dr Mousumi Bhat, Vice President, Sustainability Programs, SEMI – Innovating towards a sustainable future
- Prof. Jay Lee, Director of the Industrial AI Centre at the University of Maryland – Keynote Speech: Industrial AI and Non-Traditional Learning based Data-Centric Metrology for Smart Semiconductor Productivity
- Mr Chia Jim Keng, Chief Operating Officer, In.D Solution Pte Ltd – Innovations in Wirebond AOI Equipment
The programme featured highlights including a collaboration formalisation between A*STAR SIMTech and SEMI, where both organisations committed to co-developing a Sustainability Maturity Assessment Model. This initiative will enable companies in the semiconductor industry to assess and improve their sustainability practices, supporting the industry’s shift toward greater environmental responsibility.
Participants also toured A*STAR SIMTech’s newly opened Smart Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing Catalyst and Next-Gen Manufacturing Process Lab, gaining firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research infrastructure supporting sustainable manufacturing innovation.
The seminar provided a valuable platform for participants to deepen their understanding, gain practical insights, as well as spark new discussions and partnership opportunities for advancing sustainability and innovation in electronics and semiconductors.
