Best Poster Award at AI4Science and NTCI Conference

Congratulations to Dr Yao Yinghua for being recognised with the Best Poster Award at the AI for Science (AI4Science) and Nobel Turing Challenge Initiative (NTCI) Conference 2024.

Held on 23 – 24 July 2024 in Singapore, the AI4Science and NTCI Conference aims to explore Artificial Intelligence’s role in revolutionising scientific discovery. The conference offered participants the opportunity to converge, engage with world leaders and foster a global dialogue on the future of scientific discovery.

In her poster titled “Pareto-guided Diffusion Model for Protein Design”, Dr Yao addressed the challenges of optimising multiple objective functions in protein design, such as expression yield, binding affinity and solubility. The PaRetO-gUided Diffusion (PROUD) model effectively leverages diffusion models to handle protein complex data and adeptly manages trade-offs among multiple objectives. The study, co-authored with Dr Pan Yuangang, Dr Li Jing, and Prof Ivor Tsang from A*STAR’s Centre for Frontier AI Research (CFAR) and Prof Yao Xin from Lingnan University (LU) was published in Machine Learning (2024).
