Core Leadership Team

Mr Terence Gan is the Executive Director of the Institute of Microelectronics, Agency for Science, Technology and Research.

Terence was previously from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), where he was the Senior Vice President and Head of the Semiconductor Industry Group and worked closely with top local and international semiconductor companies to facilitate their investments and transform their operations in Singapore. Prior to this role, he was the Senior Vice President for Europe, Director of EDB’s Electronics Cluster and a Centre Director (San Francisco). 

He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

Dr Karen Chong is the Deputy Executive Director of the Institute of Microelectronics, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). 

Dr Chong helms the Photonics & Sensors Technology Department and the Research, Talent & Planning portfolios in IME. She was previously Director of Advanced Manufacturing (Engineering), Science & Engineering Research Council (SERC), A*STAR and a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), A*STAR where she was the Head of the Nanofabrication Dept and Nanoimprint Foundry.

She received her B.Sc (Hons) and Ph.D in Chemistry from the University of Manchester and University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
