About the IMPACT™ Programme

IMPACT™ builds on the highly successful Digital Transformation & Innovation™ (DTI™) programme developed by A*STAR SIMTech. This enhanced programme is designed to assist manufacturing companies in identifying areas where change is most needed, prioritising valuable opportunities, and creating a practical roadmap for transformation.

The IMPACT™ programme provides a structured approach to help manufacturing organisations assess their business and operational challenges, pinpoint transformation levers, and outline initiatives that can enhance competitiveness, resilience, and growth. Course Outline

Participants will work through a structured process to diagnose needs, identify opportunities, and build a focused smart and sustainable transformation roadmap, experiencing advanced manufacturing technologies through immersive learning at A*STAR SIMTech and ARTC.

Key focus areas or applications:
  • Understanding concepts of holistic transformation and business model innovation
  • Linking transformation objectives with business goals
  • (Re-)Designing business model for a fast-changing world
  • Analysing the current value stream and organisational enablers
  • Identifying hotspots and transformation areas
  • Readiness assessment and benchmarking
  • Generating and refining initiatives for smart value stream and organisational enablers
  • Developing an action plan for measurable and holistic transformation

Upon Completion of This Course

Participants will be awarded with a Certificate of Attendance (COA) by SIMTech and/or ARTC if they meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
  • Take all assessments; and
  • Pass the course.

Note: Trainees will have to bear the full course fee upon failure to meet either one of the criteria.

  • Applicants should possess a degree in any discipline or a diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience.
  • Applicants who do not have the required academic qualifications are still welcome to apply, but shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview for special approval.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Full Course Fee

The full course fee for this module is $6,000 before funding and prevailing GST.

Long Term Visit Pass Plus (LTVP+) Holders

  • The LTVP+ scheme applies to lawful foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens with (i) at least one Singapore Citizen child or are expecting one from the marriage, or at least three years of marriage, and (ii) where the Singapore Citizen sponsor is able to support the family.
  •  All LTVP+ holders can be identified with their green visit pass cards, with the word ‘PLUS’ printed on the back of the card.

Enhanced Training Support For Small & Medium Enterprise (SMES) Scheme (ETSS)

SMEs that meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million

SME-sponsored Trainees:

  • Must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  • Courses have to be fully paid for by the employer.
  • Trainee is not a full-time national serviceman. 

Further Info: This scheme is intended for all organisations, including non-business entities not registered with ACRA e.g. VWOs, societies, etc. Only ministries, statutory boards, and other government agencies are NOT eligible under Enhanced Training Support for SMEs Scheme. Sole proprietorships which meet all of the above criteria are also eligible.

Course Outline

This unit reinforces the learning from Module 1: “Understand Digital Transformation” through on-site mentorship. With personalised coaching, participants will systematically identify specific improvement areas and relevant digital technologies for achieving the company’s business objectives and develop an action plan for driving its digital agenda.

Key focus areas or applications:
  • Setting up teams of digital transformers
  • Refining the outputs of the DTI™ methodology with on-site coaching/mentoring
  • Deep-diving on individual technologies with implementation tips
  • Identifying partners (e.g. system integrators)
  • Generating a detailed action plan and budget estimation incorporating feedback of top management
  • Developing quick gains to ensure buy-in and continuity of digitalisation

Dr Tan Puay Siew

Dr Tan Puay Siew spearheads strategic AI-first programmes in Smart Manufacturing and has many years of experience leading large-scale industry transformation projects, with deep expertise in digital systems and AI. She has a PhD in Computer Science and degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Dr Roland Lim

Dr Roland Lim has strong expertise in operations management, manufacturing & supply chain strategy, and productivity planning & implementation. His industry experience has enabled him to gain extensive knowledge of best practices and solutions for tackling various business challenges. He holds an EngD in Industrial Engineering, an MSc & BEng in Engineering.

Mr Mark Chua

Mr Mark Chua is an accomplished business leader with more than 40 years of cross-functional experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He has led LEAN Six Sigma, Industry 4.0, and talent initiatives, and served 18 years as General Manager at Alcon, Novartis, and GSK. He currently supports companies’ digital transformation at A*STAR SIMTech. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.

Mr Lim Yi Yung is a Principal Research Engineer at A*STAR SIMTech with over 12 years of experience as a senior consultant and workshop facilitator, where he has delivered and enhanced SIMTech’s flagship programmes. Passionate about strategy formulation, execution, and adult learning, Mr Lim is committed to supporting companies on their transformation journeys. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, and is a certified ACTA trainer.

Dr Joel Tay

Dr Joel Tay has led the development of AI in Manufacturing technologies, with expertise particularly in value chain manufacturing and smart decision support. His work has helped companies translate advanced research in optimisation, analytics, and AI/ML into practical capabilities for planning, operations, and shopfloor decision-making. He has a PhD in Operations Research and an MA (Cantab) in Mathematics.
