AIM-READY: Production and Inventory
Operations Optimisation* (16 Hours)

- This programme is in collaboration with the Sectoral AI Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing (AIMfg).
Introduction
A*STAR AIM-Ready: Production & Inventory Operations Optimisation is an intermediate-level course that equips manufacturing planners with the knowledge and tools to assess, plan and drive the adoption of AI-enabled production and inventory optimisation.
Participants will learn to identify high-value AI opportunities, map current planning workflows, diagnose performance gaps, define measurable KPIs, and determine the data, system and implementation requirements needed to sharpen planning decisions.
Through real-world case studies and a structured readiness framework, participants will leave with a practical, phased implementation plan that translates today’s planning challenges into tomorrow’s AI-enabled operations — with clear, measurable impact.
About the Programme
The course is structured around four progressive topics, each building on the last to take participants from awareness to action:
- Topic 1: Introduction to AI-Enabled Operations Optimisation and Its Use Cases
Discover the landscape of AI-enabled optimisation and explore high-value use cases across production and inventory planning in manufacturing environments. Learn to identify and evaluate opportunities most relevant to your organisation. - Topic 2: As-Is Operations Planning Workflow Mapping and Pain Point Identification
Map your current planning workflows in detail — documenting data flows, systems, planning assumptions and underlying logic — to surface inefficiencies, bottlenecks and gaps that AI can address. - Topic 3: To-Be State Definition with Quantifiable Business Outcomes and KPIs
Define your target future state with clarity. Develop well-structured problem statements and establish measurable KPIs to assess current performance and track future improvement. - Topic 4: Impact-Driven Implementation Roadmap for AI-Enabled Operations Optimisation
Bring it all together. Develop a prioritised, impact-driven implementation roadmap comprising achievable AI-enabled projects with defined pilot scope, timelines, roles, success measures and clear next steps.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed for supply chain, production and inventory planners, operations managers, planning analysts, ERP and digital transformation leads, and continuous improvement teams in manufacturing sectors where planning performance and supply-demand alignment are business-critical — including electronics, aerospace, industrial machinery, consumer goods, food and beverage, chemicals and biomedical manufacturing.
It is particularly valuable for those who recognise the potential of AI-enabled optimisation but need a structured, practical approach to translate planning challenges into implementable solutions.
No prior coding, AI or optimisation experience is required. Participants should have a basic understanding of planning processes, be familiar with production or inventory data, and be ready to bring their own data, operational processes and documented workflows for assessment during the session.
