30 January 2023 – Prof Fiona Watt paid her first visit to the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as Director of EMBO. Apart from meeting with the Biomedical Research Leadership, she also visited the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS).
At the GIS, Prof Watt was provided an overview of the institute, and briefed by a few of the GIS scientists on the various research areas under its purview.
The visit concluded with a tour of the research facilities at the GIS-PRECISE EXTRACT joint lab, GIS’ Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) lab, and the GIS Industry Corridor of joint labs, where they were provided with an understanding of GIS’ capabilities in precision medicine and sequencing, and collaborative efforts with the industry.
