GIS Researchers Awarded NRF Investigatorship
The National Research Foundation (NRF) recently named 15 senior researchers in its Class of 2023 NRF Investigatorship awards. Four of the 15 awardees were from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is proud to announce that our principal investigators bagged three out of the four awards presented to A*STAR.

(From left) Dr Jay Shin, Group Leader, Laboratory of Regulatory Genomics; Dr Wan Yue, Group Leader, Laboratory of RNA Genomics and Structure, and Associate Director, Epigenetic and Epitranscriptomic Systems; and Dr Tam Wai Leong, Group Leader, Lab of Translational Cancer Biology, and Associate Director, Precision Medicine and Population Genomics (Somatic), are this year’s recipients from GIS.
NRF aims to develop a strong science research and manpower base in Singapore. It runs initiatives to attract and retain top scientists, support competitive funding of research, establish world-leading research centres and engage eminent science and technology leaders. The NRF Investigatorship provides opportunities for scientists and researchers to pursue ground-breaking, high-risk research. It is designed to support a small number of excellent Principal Investigators who have a track record of research achievements that identify them as leaders in their respective field(s) of research.
