introduction
Lab-on-Chip technology, commonly known as LoC, is a cutting-edge approach that miniaturizes laboratory functions onto a single microchip. This compact platform integrates multiple functions such as sample preparation, analysis, and detection onto a chip-sized device, enabling rapid and efficient biomedical testing. Throughout this course, we will explore the fundamentals of Lab-on-Chip technology, its applications in healthcare, and the development process of healthcare products using this innovative approach. Lab-on-a-Chip technologies offer three main advantages to healthcare products: smaller sample volumes, lower test costs, and faster turn-around times. These advantages are increasingly being leveraged to develop innovative healthcare testing devices to detect and diagnose various conditions, spanning from infectious diseases to cancer.
This course module is designed for engineers and PMETs interested in the knowledge and skills involved in product development using Lab-on-Chip and advanced testing technologies. The course will cover the knowledge and skills needed for immune-sensing and optical detection, molecular diagnostics, and cellular analysis in the application of miniaturized medical diagnostics. It will also cover practical methods for developing new healthcare testing products, such as medical instruments, cartridges, or cassettes. Additionally, the course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to build a quality management system product development.
about the programme
The development of miniature healthcare products such as medical diagnostic instruments and devices requires specialized knowledge and skills related to microfluidics and Lab-on-a-Chip technologies, immune-sensing and optical detection, as well as nucleic acid and cell analysis. This course aims to bridge these knowledge gaps.
During this course, participants will gain an understanding of the concepts and applications of Lab-on-a-Chip technologies, as well as learn the methods and processes involved in New Product Development (NDP) for medical diagnostic instruments and devices. With the guidance of healthcare product development experts, participants will have opportunities for hands-on experience in designing and prototyping biosensors, conducting experiments on molecular diagnosis and cellular analysis, and practicing the product development process of medical diagnostic instruments.
The participants will acquire the latest knowledge on how to transform a laboratory protocol for body fluid analysis into a miniaturized smart instrument and cartridge, using the microfluidics Lab-on-a-Chip approach.
Through this training course, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding and mastery of the skills needed for miniaturized medical diagnostic instrument and device in a holistic/integrated manner.
Who Should Attend
The programme is relevant for PMETs, senior managers, and professionals who are in the areas of medical product development, especially with medical diagnostics, health screening product and related business.
