Trainers' profile

Dr Li Xiaoli

Dr Li Xiaoli is the Department Head and a Senior Principal Scientist with A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R), and an adjunct full professor at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is an IEEE Fellow and a Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association. Since 2020, he has served on the Information Technology Standards Committee and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. Additionally, he is a health innovation expert panel member for the Ministry of Health and an AI advisor for the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office. Dr Li has published over 350 peer-reviewed papers, held leadership roles in major AI journals and conferences, and edited six books. With more than 30,000 citations and an h-index of 70+, he has been recognised by Stanford University as one of the world’s top 2% scientists in AI.

Dr Li Xiaoli has also been named as one of A*STAR's Highly Cited Researchers for 2024.

Dr Jamie Ng Suat Ling

Dr Jamie Ng Suat Ling is a Senior Principal Scientist and Head of the Advanced & Sustainable Manufacturing Division at A*STAR I²R. She leads projects in AI, analytics, automation, connectivity, and cybersecurity for manufacturing and aerospace, including predictive maintenance, IIoT for Industry 4.0, and robotics. As the Programme Lead for the Smart Automated Aircraft Visual Inspection System (SAAVIS), she focuses on automating defect detection in large structures like aircraft. Dr Ng holds a PhD in Human Factors Engineering, an MSc in Smart Product Design, and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University.. She has several patents and has received the Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award and the IES Prestigious Engineering Award 2023.

Dr Wan Kong Wah

Dr Wan Kong Wah holds a BSc and MSc from the National University of Singapore and a PhD from the Nanyang Technological University. He is a Principal Scientist at A*STAR I²R and has authored numerous patents and technical publications, winning best paper awards at international conferences. Dr Wan collaborates with local industry and government agencies to develop AI technologies, notably in robust ID recognition, which has been licenced and deployed at Singapore Ports and ICA immigration checkpoints. His robotic conveying systems were also trialled by the ICA. His accolades include the MHA Firefly Silver Award in 2021 for project MATAR, the PST Distinguished ExCEL Innovation Project Award in 2018 for the Automated Passenger In-car Clearance System, the GovInsider Best Drone and Robotics Project Award in 2018 for Outdoor Robotic Surveillance Systems, and the Dunman Partnership Award (Silver) in 2023.

LONG TERM VISIT PASS PLUS (LTVP+) HOLDERS

  • The LTVP+ scheme applies to lawful foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens with (i) at least one Singapore Citizen child or are expecting one from the marriage, or at least three years of marriage, and (ii) where the Singapore Citizen sponsor is able to support the family.
  •  All LTVP+ holders can be identified with their green visit pass cards, with the word ‘PLUS’ printed on the back of the card.

ENHANCED TRAINING SUPPORT FOR SMALL & MEDIUM ENTERPRISE (SMEs) SCHEME (ETSS)

SMEs that meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than $100 million

SME-sponsored Trainees:

  • Must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  • Courses have to be fully paid for by the employer.
  • Trainee is not a full-time national serviceman.
