The Molecular Engineering Lab was started by Dr. Sydney Brenner in 2009 to bring together a small team to work on inter-disciplinary projects. We are and will be a small cadre of individuals seeking to explore the intersection of our disciplines in order to find novel applications of our domain expertise. We are funded by the
Agency for Science Technology and Research
Our research fellows comprise mostly of freshly minted PhDs looking to develop their own research programme. The lab has two main areas of focus: 1) Molecular Engineering and 2) Modelling Human Biology with stem cells. To find out more about our research, please visit this page.
Areas of interest:
- Nucleic acid amplification and detection
- Molecular Diagnostics
- RNA functional and structural characterization
- High Throughput Sequencing assay development and analysis
- Molecular Evolution
- Gene Therapy
- Developing novel chemistry probes for imaging
Note: These areas reflect the background and interests of our team members and will continue to evolve as our team grows.
MEL is generously funded by the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) and the Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) of A*STAR.
