IMPROVE QUALITY MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT THROUGH DIGITALISATION* (16 HOURS)

Improve Quality Monitoring and Management
*This is a non-WSQ module.

"Digitalisation is the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new revenue and value-producing opportunities."

Gartner Glossary

INTRODUCTION

Using digitalisation, businesses can transform shopfloor quality operations using manual processes into digitalized workflows. The benefits include improved productivity in data collection, easy traceability of quality data and proper alignment between quality planning and operations. Furthermore, digitalisation makes it easy to gain insights in the trove of quality data. These insights provide organisations with real-time visibility of potential quality problems and performance presented in a dashboard.

About the Programme

This is an introductory course on quality management for the manufacturing shopfloor. The course will cover the meaning of quality and concepts such as Six Sigma and Taguchi loss function. We will also explore how digitalisation can enhance quality management and monitoring.

Using SIMTech’s Model Factory environment and software, participants can see demonstrations of the use of digitalisation in the shop floor for quality inspection. They will also be exploring the concept of variation, statistical process control (SPC) and process capability and how these can improve their organisations’ processes. Finally, we will study how different shopfloor systems can be integrated with quality systems for effective quality monitoring.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for technicians, engineers and managers who are involved in the running of manufacturing operations or any individual that uses, plans, develops or manages a quality system in a manufacturing environment, especially with precision engineering companies.

Course Outline
