REVIEW WELDING OPERATION & QUALITY CONTROL (45 HOURS)

Review Welding Operation and Quality Control

We are revamping the full qualifications for the Graduate Diploma courses. Applicants can still sign up for the individual modules under the specialisations.

This module provides participants with an integrated and practical overview of weld evaluation, welding design, welding operation and welding quality control. It offers a general understanding of weldability analyses, pre- and post-weld heat treatments, non-destructive testing and inspection for welded joints, welding design and simulation, welding process mechanisation and automation, as well as welding quality control. Trainees will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to understand the different techniques for evaluating and controlling welding quality as well as the most efficient welding methods. The module also includes case studies on preparing welding-related documents in real-life scenarios.

Why This Course

This module is specially designed to effectively guide participants towards quickly adopting the most efficient ways to control/improve weld quality and welding productivity. The module will train participants to build the competencies required to perform weld evaluation, undertake testing and inspection of welded joints, perform design and simulation, understand the welding process mechanisation and automation and control welding distortions. On successful completion of this module, participants will be able to evaluate, control and improve weld quality as well as improve welding productivity.

Who Should Attend

This course is targeted at operation managers, manufacturing managers/engineers, production planning engineers, materials engineers, mechanical engineers, production engineers, foremen and skilled operators, quality control managers/engineers, materials purchasing engineers, laboratory managers and engineers, as well as personnel from all manufacturing industries that deploy welding as a joining process such as companies in the precision engineering, aerospace, marine, oil and gas, automotive and electronics sectors.

What You Will Learn

What you Will learn

This module will mainly focus on destructive and non-destructive testing and the inspection for welded joints, welding design, mechanised and automated welding, and welding quality control. The detailed contents include:
  • Methodologies for evaluating weldability
  • Principles for pre/post weld heat treatment
  • Principles of destructive and non-destructive testing and inspection of welds
  • Basics of weld design
  • Fundamentals of modelling and simulation in welding
  • Approaches and specifications for mechanisation and automation of welding processes
  • Correlation among welding process parameters, residual stresses, and weld joint distortion
  • Procedures for performing QA and QC in welding operations

Upon Completion of This Course

Upon Completion of this Course

Electronic Statement of Attainment (SOA) certificates will be issued by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to participants who have attended and attained competency in the Singapore Skills Framework training modules.

Participants must also meet the following criteria to receive their SOAs:

  • Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
  • Take all assessments; and
  • Pass the course.

    Eligible for SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC)

    SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC)

    The SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) was first introduced during the Singapore’s Budget 2020 and then recently expanded to a larger group of employers in Budget 2022. It encourages employers to invest in enterprise transformation and capabilities of their employees. Eligible employers will receive a one-off S$10,000 credit to cover up to 90% of out-of-pocket expenses on qualifying costs for supportable initiatives, over and above the support levels of existing schemes.

    Submission of SFEC Claim

    Employers are required to submit their SFEC claims manually via its microsite if they fulfil any of the following scenarios:

    • Employers have sent their foreign employees (excluding foreign employees who hold Long-Term Visit Pass Plus) for training on a SFEC eligible course;

    Employers can only submit the claims for SFEC after their employees have completed the training course(s). Click here to download the SFEC Claim e-guide.

    NOTE: You will require a Corppass account with "EPJS_User" role assigned prior to login to your account to manage your claims.

    If you are unsure whether your company is eligible for SFEC, you may submit an enquiry to Enterprise Singapore (ESG) via here for their response.
