Smart Manufacturing Joint Lab (SMJL) Launch
On 17th September 2017, the ARTC launched the Smart Manufacturing Joint Lab (SMJL) in collaboration with British manufacturing giant Rolls-Royce and Singapore Aero Engine Services (SAESL).The Joint Lab will develop next-generation aerospace manufacturing technology as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities which will be enabled by advanced processes, automation and digital technologies. The five main themes of the programme includes Smart Assembly Systems, Integrated Remanufacturing Technologies, Advanced Fan Blade Manufacturing, Future Manufacturing Processes, and Knowledge-based Manufacturing.
The application of these intelligent automation and digitalisation will help to improve productivity, save costs and enhance competitiveness.
