A*STAR and Halliburton have launched the Next-Generation Energy Xccelerator Joint Lab (NEX Lab℠) to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced well completion technologies for the global energy sector. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the joint lab brings together A*STAR’s multidisciplinary research capabilities and Halliburton’s deep domain expertise to translate innovative concepts into field-ready solutions.

With an investment of S$35 million, NEX Lab℠ will serve as a dynamic hub where researchers, engineers, and industry partners work together to integrate design, prototyping, and validation activities, enabling the rapid translation of early-stage technology into field-ready solutions. The joint lab will strengthen capabilities in advanced energy technologies and support the evolving needs of the energy ecosystem — including low-carbon application

As A*STAR’s industry-facing applied R&D and innovation platform, A*STAR ARTC plays a key role in bridging research and industry needs. Leveraging its consortium model and strong industry partnerships, ARTC supports the co-development, prototyping, validation, and test-bedding of technologies to accelerate their adoption and scale-up in real-world applications.

Through NEX Lab℠, ARTC works closely with researchers and industry partners to drive the translation of research into high-impact manufacturing and engineering solutions, while supporting talent development and capability building in Singapore. This collaboration strengthens Singapore’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing, applied R&D, and energy technology innovation.
