Breast cancer research

In collaboration with Breast Cancer Foundation, GIS aims to explore the use risk-based breast cancer screening to meet individual needs. Every woman’s risk of developing breast cancer is different. Instead of treating all women the same way, precision health takes individual variations in genetics, environmental, and lifestyle factors into account—allowing doctors to more accurately predict which screening and prevention strategies will work in different groups of women.

Stronghold Diagnostics Labs

Established by A*STAR and the National University Health System (NUHS), with Temasek Foundation as a strategic industry partner, the Stronghold Diagnostics Labs (SDL) work alongside other laboratories to boost the national capacity for larger-scale COVID-19 testing, as Singapore resumes more economic activities and COVID-19 measures are further eased.

The findings will be released in August at a public forum at the Asian Civilisations Museum. In an interview with Channel NewsAsia, Professor Roger Foo from GIS, who was the Principal Investigator for this project, spoke about how this study came about and the kinds of insights that people can expect from this project.
