On a quest to outsmart genetic diseases

21 February 2025 - Dr Chew Wei Leong, Senior Principal Scientist at A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore (A*STAR GIS) shares his journey at A*STAR. From an early age, he was deeply fascinated with the world of science. His passion led him to pursue an A*STAR National Science Scholarship, earning degrees from Duke University and Harvard University. Wei Leong currently leads a team to develop biomedical solutions for currently untreatable diseases. He was part of the team that invented the CRISPR-based C-to-G Base Editor, a ground-breaking gene-editing technology that he continues to work on today. Read his story below:
